Phil Weiss

Principal, Apprise Wealth Management

Phil Weiss founded Apprise Wealth Management to help women facing new beginnings understand their financial lives, make thoughtful decisions, and use their money in ways that support what matters most to them. His interest in personal finance is deeply personal. Phil grew up in a household where money was often a source of uncertainty, and those experiences shaped the way he thinks about financial planning today. He believes good advice starts with listening and understanding what someone wants their life to look like, not simply with numbers, investments, or projections. That perspective led Phil to build Apprise around women navigating meaningful life transitions, including divorce, widowhood, retirement, and an empty nest. These changes can bring both uncertainty and opportunity. Phil enjoys helping clients sort through the financial questions that come with them, understand their choices, and build a plan for what comes next. Phil began his financial services career in 1987 as a tax professional with Deloitte & Touche and has spent more than 25 years working in personal finance and investment management. He is a CFA charterholder, CPA, and RLP®. His work reflects a long-term perspective and the belief that financial planning, taxes, and investing should work together rather than be considered in isolation. Phil also writes regularly for the Apprise blog and has appeared as a guest on numerous podcasts and as a financial spokesperson in the media. To learn more about the experiences that led him to start Apprise and focus on women facing new beginnings, read [Confessions of a Financial Advisor](https://apprisewealth.com/news/confessions-of-a-financial-advisor/). Phil grew up in Livingston, New Jersey, and earned a BS in Accounting from Rutgers University. He also studied psychology for three years at Duke University. Phil and his wife, Diana, live in Maryland and have four children, along with two dogs that make the family feel more like six. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, cooking, reading, and following his favorite sports teams. He also spent many years coaching his children’s youth sports teams.
