Terms of service
Last updated October 5, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and AdvisorTechBook LLC, an Illinois limited liability company (“Advicer”, “we”, “us”), which runs Advicer.bio. By using Advicer.bio (the “site”), including signing in, claiming or editing a page, or writing a review or endorsement, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
The short version
- Advicer is a free, public directory of the people, companies and resources in financial advice.
- Be yourself: only claim your own page, and only manage listings you're authorized to represent.
- Write honest reviews from your own experience, and say how you know the company or resource.
- What you post is public, and you're responsible for it. We can remove anything that breaks these rules.
- Nothing on Advicer is financial, investment, legal or tax advice.
- Sponsors can't buy rankings, reviews or opinions.
Who can use Advicer
You must be at least 18 and able to enter into this agreement. If you use Advicer for a company, you confirm you're authorized to act for it, and these terms apply to the company too.
Your account
You sign in with a link we email you. Keep access to your email secure: anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at joe@advisortechbook.com if you think someone else has used it.
Your page
- Claim only your own page. Don't claim, create or edit a page for someone else, or pretend to be another person or company. We may ask you to confirm who you are, and we may decline or reverse a claim.
- Keep it accurate. Don't misstate your credentials, designations, employer, regulatory status or affiliations.
- Pages we started. Some pages are started by us from public information (for example the SEC's public adviser data). If one is about you, you can claim it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it.
- Handles (advicer.bio/yourname) are given on a first-come basis. We may change or reclaim a handle that impersonates someone, infringes a trademark, or is otherwise misleading.
Reviews and endorsements
- Honest and first-hand. Reviews must reflect your own genuine experience with the company or resource. Choose the relationship that fits (for example “Uses it” or “Works there”) so readers can judge.
- No fakes or conflicts hidden. Don't write reviews for pay, gifts or favors, review your own company as if you were a customer, review a competitor to harm it, or ask others to do any of this.
- One review per listing, signed with your name and page. You can edit or delete your own reviews.
- Endorsements are notes from one person about another. The person endorsed can hide an endorsement from their page.
- Financial advisors aren't reviewed or endorsed on Advicer. Advicer doesn't publish reviews or endorsements of individual financial advisors or advisory firms. If you're an advisor, you're responsible for making sure your page and how you use or share it meet your own regulatory and compliance obligations, including the SEC Marketing Rule and FINRA rules.
Managing company and resource pages
Founders, staff, hosts, authors and writers can ask to manage a listing. Only request access to listings you're authorized to represent. Access may be granted automatically when your email matches the listing's website, or by us after review, and we may remove it at any time. Managers can edit a listing's details but not other people's reviews or connections. Reviews of a listing stay up whether or not its managers like them, unless they break these terms.
Content you post
You keep ownership of what you post: your page details, photos, logos, reviews, endorsements and other content (“your content”). You give Advicer a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, display, adapt (for example resize or format), and distribute your content, on the site and in Advicer's emails, social posts and other Advicer publications (such as the Advicer's Top 100 book), for as long as it's on the site and for a reasonable time after for publications already made. You confirm you have the rights to post your content and that it doesn't break any law or anyone else's rights.
Public content can be seen, linked to, indexed by search engines and read by AI tools. We can't control copies others make.
What's not allowed
- Anything false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, hateful, obscene or illegal.
- Spam, unsolicited promotion, or using Advicer to collect people's contact details for marketing.
- Posting others' private or confidential information, or content you don't have the rights to.
- Scraping or copying the directory in bulk to build a competing product or for spam (normal search engine and AI indexing is fine), or getting around rate limits or access controls.
- Interfering with the site's security or operation, or accessing accounts or data that aren't yours.
Moderation
We may review, edit for formatting, hide, or remove any content, and suspend or close any account, if we believe it breaks these terms, the law, or harms Advicer or its users. We don't have to monitor content and aren't responsible for what users post, but if you see something wrong, tell us at joe@advisortechbook.com.
Rankings, data and accuracy
Leaderboards and the Top 100 are ranked by public numbers (such as LinkedIn followers, podcast ratings, book rankings, subscriber counts and Advicer reviews), and some facts come from public sources like SEC filings. We work to keep things accurate, but data can be incomplete, out of date or wrong, and we don't guarantee it. Rankings are our editorial presentation of that data and can change at any time. Corrections are welcome at joe@advisortechbook.com.
Not advice
Advicer is a directory. Nothing on the site, including reviews, rankings and listings, is financial, investment, legal, tax or compliance advice, or a recommendation of any person, firm, product or service. Do your own research before hiring anyone or buying anything.
Sponsors
Sponsors may appear on the site and in our emails, and sponsored placements are labeled. Sponsors can't buy rankings, reviews or our opinions. Sponsorships are covered by a separate agreement with each sponsor.
Other websites
Advicer links to and embeds content from other sites (company websites, videos, podcasts and so on). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or practices.
Advicer's rights
The site's design, software, name, logo and the directory as a whole belong to AdvisorTechBook LLC. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the site as intended. If you send us feedback or ideas, we can use them without owing you anything.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Advicer infringes your copyright, email joe@advisortechbook.com with the content's address, a description of your work, and your contact details. We'll review it and remove infringing content.
Ending your use
You can stop using Advicer at any time and ask us to delete your account or remove your page. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as content licenses for publications already made, disclaimers, limits on liability and governing law) continue after your use ends.
Disclaimers
Advicer is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the site will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, AdvisorTechBook LLC and its owners, employees and partners won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Advicer or content on it. Our total liability for any claim related to Advicer is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold harmless AdvisorTechBook LLC from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of Advicer, or your breaking these terms or anyone's rights.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and tell you by email or on the site if the change is significant. Using Advicer after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Everything else
If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part, we haven't waived it. You can't transfer your rights under these terms; we can, for example if the site is sold. These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Advicer.
