How Advicer.bio stays independent
Last updated October 18, 2026
Advicer.bio is paid for by companies that sell to financial advisors, who sponsor clearly labeled spots, and by members of the Advicers community. Money can buy attention. It can't buy rankings, reviews, research or a place in Find an advisor. Here is exactly where that line sits.
What sponsors can buy
- “Presented by” on a directory, leaderboard or research page: their logo and name at the top.
- A featured spot at the top of one category, with a button like “Book a demo”, and the same button on their company page.
- Newsletter placements and, for founding sponsors, a credit in the site's footer.
- For financial advisors: a spot at the top of a Find an advisor niche page, above the list.
- A monthly report of how often their placements were seen and clicked, and which firms visited their company page (by firm, never by person).
What money can't buy
- Rankings. Leaderboards are ranked by public numbers (followers, ratings, subscribers, reviews). A sponsor ranks where its numbers put it.
- Reviews. Reviews are written and signed by people with an Advicer page. Sponsors can't write, buy, remove or reorder them.
- A place in Find an advisor. Listing is free. The order (claimed pages first, then verified, then CFP® professionals, then A to Z) is the same for everyone. A sponsored spot sits above the list and doesn't change who's in it or where.
- Research. Our data and research, including what we share with research partners, is never filtered or weighted by who sponsors.
- Opinions. What Joe writes and says is his own, and isn't for sale.
How sponsored things are labeled
Every paid placement says so: “Sponsored”, “Presented by” or “Featured in … · Sponsored”. An advisor's spot in Find an advisor is marked “Sponsored · An ad, not a recommendation”. Links to sponsors are marked as sponsored for search engines too. Work we do for a Growth Partner, like a co-branded report, carries both names.
Research and data partners
Organizations that use Advicer.bio's data for research pay us for it, or receive it free. Money never flows from our sponsors to them. Research partners receive no sponsor or advertising revenue, don't appear in sponsored placements or sponsor materials, and sponsors get no access to them and no say in their research.
Questions, or something looks off?
If you think a placement isn't labeled, or that money is shaping something it shouldn't, tell us: joe@advisortechbook.com. We'll look into it and fix it. The rules for sponsors are also in our terms, and what's on offer is on Advertise.
