Firms on Advicer.bio can add one line of code to their own website to see how many people visit, where they come from and which pages they read, in their Advicer.bio page editor. This page is for the firm and its compliance team: what the code does and doesn't do.
The code
<script defer src="https://advicer.bio/t.js" data-site="…"></script>
It's under 1 KB, loads after the page (it never slows it down), and sends one small message to advicer.bio for each page viewed. It only counts on the website the firm registered (and its subdomains).
What it sends for each page view
- The page's address on your site (its path, such as /about, without the part after a “?”).
- On the first page of a visit: the site the visitor came from (such as google.com or linkedin.com) and any utm_source and utm_medium tags.
- The width of the browser window, to tell phones, tablets and computers apart.
Advicer.bio also uses, without storing them: the visitor's IP address and browser name, to tell unique visitors apart and estimate their state or country.
What it doesn't do
- No cookies and nothing saved in the visitor's browser, so it doesn't need a cookie banner.
- No personal information is stored. No IP addresses, names, emails, form entries or anything typed on your site.
- No tracking across sites or days. Unique visitors are counted with a code made from the IP address and browser and a secret that changes every day; codes are deleted after two days, so a visitor can't be recognized from one day to the next.
- No ads, no selling. Your traffic isn't shared with advertisers or sponsors, and it isn't public.
- Visits from search engine crawlers and other bots aren't counted.
What's kept
Daily totals for each firm: page views, unique visitors, and counts by source (search engines, AI assistants, LinkedIn, Advicer.bio, email…), by page, by US state or country, and by device. Only the people who manage the firm's Advicer.bio page, and Advicer.bio's admins, can see them. Advicer.bio may use totals across many firms, with no firm named, for research such as average traffic by firm size.
Removing it
Delete the line from your site and counting stops. To have your firm's totals deleted, email joe@advisortechbook.com.
